Remembering The 80s Favorite Boy Next Door Farooq Sheikh & His Cult Films

Farooq Sheikh was the blue eyed boy of the very influencing parallel cinema of the 80s. He was best known for his work in Hindi films from 1977 to 1988. His principled life is a case study for actors who survived on passion for cinema. The youthful and forward thinking icon that he became in that time was also catalyst to social activism happening through films. He worked with brilliant noted directors like Satyajit Ray, Hrishikesh Mukherjee & Sai Paranjpye. His onscreen pairing with Deepti Naval was very popular with audiences, and they worked as a pair in nine films, amongst films such as Chashme Buddoor, Katha, Saath Saath, Kissi se Na Kehna and many more that are cult classics of Hindi cinema. His work on television in the 90s with shows like Ji Mantriji & Tumhari Amrita with Shabana Azmi were well received. Well, everyone always thought he was the most underrated actor Hindi cinema has ever seen.
