The Truth Is Out On Whether ‘Opposites Attract’ Or Not In A Relationship

Relationships are extraordinarily tough. And it’s not that the tough gets going, it’s only the alike that get going. Yes, it is not you who can blamed for your mishaps in dating all the time. are incredibly difficult, especially when there’s so much pressure to find “the one.” But it turns out you’re not entirely to blame for your dating difficulties, you might have just been getting the wrong advice.

Or simply you are with someone who is not like you. Subconsciously, we analyze personality traits like neuroticism, extraversion, openness, agreeableness and conscientiousness when we begin dating a person. We may like them for their opposite traits and the fact of the matter that they complement us, but never love them the same way we would love a likeminded.

Several researchers in the Social Psychology field have established that people are actually much more drawn to others who share the same views and values. Like-minded people also help in validation each other’s beliefs and views, and there tend to be fewer conflicts as a result.Studies conducted by relationship researchers from Wellesley and the University of Kansas says that opposites don’t attract. The study, which was published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, found a “paradigm shift” in how we view our relationships. “Picture two strangers striking up a conversation on a plane, or a couple on a blind date,” Bahns said in a press release. “From the very first moments of awkward banter, how similar the two people are is immediately and powerfully playing a role in future interactions. Will they connect? Or walk away? Those early recognitions of similarity are really consequential in that decision … We’re arguing that selecting similar others as relationship partners is extremely common—so common and so widespread on so many dimensions that it could be described as a psychological default.”

It has been found that the commonalities found in the two partners when it comes to their prejudices, personalities and attitudes, rather than their differences, are what set the tone for their relationships. Having lots in common with your potential mate is a huge indicator that you’re meant to be. Science proves that opposites DON’T attract and cracked the code to every complicated relationship ever. There is someone scientifically approved for you, grab them 🙂
