Here Are Some First Time Moments From The 69th Indian Republic Day Parade

The Constitution of India came into effect on January 26, 1950, and nothing will ever be enough to commemorate the moment of pride. But this year, there were many unique moments at the 69th Republic Day parade that left us all awestruck. The dynamic military might and cultural diversity were on display at the parade.

India’s ties with ASEAN was being showcased. Leaders from the 10 countries, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam, were seated with the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind & PM Narendra Modi. This is the first time in the history of Independent India that the event was attended by 10 head of states.

The ‘Seema Bhawanis’, BSF women bikers team led by sub inspector Stanzin Naryang showed their skills. For the very first time, there were no male stunt riders. Fish Riding, Side Riding, Faulaad, Prachand Baalay Shaktiman, Four Harmony, Mobile PT, Bull Fighting, Peacock, Sapt Rishi, Brahma Yog Guldasta, Wind Mill Formation, Seema Prahari, Bharat Ke Mustaid Prahari, Sarhad Ke Nigheban and Flag March Pyramid were the many stunts they performed on the bikes.

Brahmos Missile System of 881 Missile Regiment was on the Janpath, it is the only Super Sonic Cruise Missile presently available in the world. The Akash weapon system of 27 Air Defence Regiment (Amritsar Air Field), led by Captain Shikha Yadav and Captain Mohammad Yunis Khan was exhilarating to watch.

All hail women power, this season and all!

The flypast by the Indian Air Force (IAF) was alluring. The ‘Rudra’ formation comprising three ALH Mk IV WSI helicopters in ‘Vic’ formation, is followed by the ‘Hercules’ formation comprising three C-130J Super Hercules aircraft in ‘Vic’ formation. Following close behind is the ‘Netra’ an Airborne Early Warning and Control System Aircraft also known as “Eye in the Sky”.

After the Republic Day parade, President, leaders of the 10 ASEAN nations (who attended the Republic Day parade as chief guests) left the venue, but Modi broke protocol once again and walked down on the streets till India Gate, and waved his hand to the crowd.
