Virat Kohli will be missing out on the initial stages of the Indian Premier League tournament due to shoulder injury during the Test series with Australia. However players like KL Rahul, Quinton de Kock, JP Duminy will be missing out the full month and a half-long tournament. Some foreign players have opted out for personal reasons but many have been out due to injuries.
Here is the list of players who will be missing from action and will impact the performance of their teams. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) & Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) looks the most effected by it
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)
AB de Villiers: In Kohli’s absence, AB de Villiers was to lead the Bangalore-based franchise. Initial reports have suggested that the batsman could be out of IPL 2017 for four weeks due to back pain.
KL Rahul: Another major blow to the RCB came when Opening batsman KL Rahul is ruled out of the entire season due to a shoulder injury. Rahul was in good form in the recently concluded Test series against Australia. He has been a crucial batsman of the RCB side since 2016.

Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS)
Ravichandran Ashwin: World’s’s top spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has been ruled out of the entire IPL 2017 due to sports-hernia. He has been one of the most successful bowlers in the IPL; one of only seven players with more than 100 wickets.
Kevin Pietersen: He indicated travelling as the main reason for not featuring in the upcoming IPL season. Surprisingly now he will take part in the tournament as a commentator.
Mitchell Marsh: Mitchell Marsh is ruled out due to shoulder injury in India-Australia Test series, ruling him out of the series. The franchise has named ICC Twenty20 International (T20I) and One-Day International (ODI) No.1 bowler Imran Tahir as his replacement
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)
Umesh Yadav : Indian pacer is also taking rest & will not be seen in the first three weeks of IPL 2017. He picked up 17 wickets in 8 innings against the Australian side at an average of 23.41.
Andre Russell: Andre Russell is out as he is banned from cricket for one year by ICC’s anti-doping authority. He was match-winner for KKR with both bat and ball. Rovman Powell has been brought as his replacement
Kings XI Punjab (KXIP)
Murali Vijay: Murali Vijay also have injured shoulder. He was skipper of team in 2016. This year, however Glenn Maxwell is the captain. Replacement not yet named.
Martin Guptill: He suffered hamstring strains to both legs during the 2016-17 summer and looks missing out the season.
Delhi Daredevils (DD)
JP Duminy: He pulled out of IPL 2017 citing personal reasons. No other details avaialable
Quinton de Kock: South African wicketkeeper is ruled out of IPL 2017 due to a finger injury.
Gujarat Lions (GL)
Ravindra Jadeja: He is going to miss first three weeks of the IPL 2017 as he is taking rest . Jadeja was in great form with both bat and ball in Test series against Australia, emerging as top wicket-taker.
Dwayne Bravo: He has suffered a hamstring injury and is still on the road to recovery. He might just take more time to become fully-fit.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)
Mustafizur Rahman: Bangladesh bowler Mustafizur Rahman has skipped the tournament citing fitness issues.
